
Federal Council approves KSpTG

This morning, the German Bundesrat approved the Carbon Dioxide Storage and Transport Act (KSpTG). This is an important step for the Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) industry, as this legal basis now provides legal and planning certainty.
The transport and storage of CO₂ are crucial for methods of generating negative emissions that subsequently store and/or transport CO₂ captured from the atmosphere geologically – for example, bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) or direct air capture and storage (DACCS).
